This tuber of Sinningia sellovii is 13 cm [5 inches] long and 10 cm [4 inches] high. This is not large by sellovii standards. This tuber is a lump, more like a potato than a sinningia tuber. Most sinningia species have "bagel" tubers (like S. eumorpha), or high-dome tubers (like S. iarae), or flattened disks (like S. araneosa), or more or less symmetrical balls (like S. magnifica). This tuber weighed in at 560 g [1 pound 2 ounces]. Like S. tubiflora and S. warmingii, S. sellovii can make underground runners. |
