Sinningia 'Anne Crowley'

Tubers can survive a lot of hardship. Most of the right half of this tuber of Sinningia 'Anne Crowley' rotted during a particularly cold winter, but the tuber managed to seal off the damage. The crater on the right shows where the damaged area was. In this view, we can see about a half dozen new shoots from the living center of the tuber. However, if all the potential growth points of the tuber are killed, the tuber will never again sprout new growth, even if it does not die for several more years.
