Taking pictures in low light at an awards banquet is always a challenge, especially with the incredibly ancient, technologically obsolete equipment I had to use -- my 8-year-old 2.1-megapixel digital camera. Everywhere my camera's flash and antiquated CCDs couldn't reach turned into a cloud of random pixels. Even so, we go with these pictures because of content, not quality. It had been many years since we'd seen John Boggan at convention. We had to bring convention to him in 2009. |
Tim Tuttle gave a great talk on petrocosmeas, but this pixelated mini-monster is the best picture I could get. |

Carolyn Conlin-Lane received her award, but I was on the wrong side of the podium to get a decent picture. |
